Ran on my lunch break today. My schedule dosen't always accomidate being able to do this, but it's nice when I'm able to. I think I will be able to tomorrow also. The first bit, almost a mile, is on the gravel and train tracks but after that I'm on a path by the river. They have been working on connecting all the paths and there is a new section almost ready to pave! It will be great when it's all connected. You will be able to run from the mouth of the canyon, (This will be park of the Ogden Marathon) to South Ogden.

On the way out the river looked like illusion silk. The silk that has different colored warp and weft. So that as it wrikles and shifts it there are two colors. The river looked like the bronze with lavandar/blue in it. It must have been an effect from the sun and my sun glasses. Because on the way back it just looked like churning chocolate milk. Something that I have been craving lots after my runs LOL. There were a few kiakers on the river, and best of all I ran into my running friend. She lives down by this area but I thought she would have been finished with her run. She ran me back to the railroad tracks. It was great to see her! Better run then yesterday, but my hip is still bugging. I get a massage tonight so I hope this helps. Then off to see my sister, for a sister date. Tonight we are making cards.

COOL run! I sure love running by the water :) ..and a good friend :) Check out your speedy last mile :) How is your son today?

From Metcalf Running on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 15:57:33 from 207.225.192.66

RAD you bring the chocolate milk and I'll be there :)

Marion, my son is doing well, just sore muscles. Swollen face.

It sounds like you have a fabulous place to run. Great description!

I used to always have a glass of chocolate milk after every run. But I have recently given it up in an attempt to shed a couple of pounds.

From Kelli on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 19:47:45 from 71.219.98.70

Sounds like a very cool run!

I am confused. I guess I do not know where you live. I thought it was in Utah County, but it is near Ogden?

From Metcalf Running on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 09:42:23 from 207.225.192.66

Carolyn, I'm trying to only have it every now and then. I found some really good low fat kind, but I'm still trying to cut down.

Kelli, I live in Pleasant View, (North of Ogden) I work in Ogden.

Lori,

I read an blurb in RW, that chocolate milk was better than sport drinks for an after workout drink.

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 14:19:33 from 71.219.98.70

They have been handing out chocolate mile at a lot of races and I know several football teams have switched, too. I also read it in a few different places. Unfortunately, I hate the stuff!

The goddess of wisdom doesn't like chocolate milk? That's not very wise.

From marion on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 15:02:48 from 71.213.115.249

Really Kelli? I REALLY like it! But I am the Amazon Goddess!

From Metcalf Running on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 15:19:24 from 207.225.192.66

Monte... really? I don't remember how it got started for me, maybe it was at a race that was handing it out.

Kelli... you are crazy, I'm with Marion. :)

From Burt on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 16:00:00 from 68.76.197.194

I love chocolate milk but often after a long run I have cotton mouth and the last thing I want is milk of any kind.

From Burt on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 16:00:40 from 68.76.197.194

Did Kelli say something about a chocolate mile? Mmmmm....

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 17:55:25 from 71.219.75.72

Now, a chocolate MILE....that would be nice. Could someone make that into a race? You might have an entire new group of people show up for that one.

Typo aside, I hate milk. Never drink it (thus the addiction to cheese and ice cream---I have to get my calcium somewhere). When I was pregnant with child number one, I was worried about my calcium so I drank a gallon of chocolate milk a day (or more). Since the day she was born over 16 years ago I have NEVER had chocolate milk again.
