Meet up with a running friend and ran 5 miles with him, then did another 3 by myself. My shin felt better tonight when I was running, but hurt more when I stopped. I will ice and stretch again tonight and hope that I can get things feeling better. I have a massage appointment tomorrow after work so that should help too. I will probably only do about 5 miles tomorrow. I'm really trying to wrap my head around a long run this weekend. I really need to do about 18-20 miles.

Doh! Hope things work out at the doc/massage therapists tomorrow! Let us know how it goes! Youre in my prayers! I was looking on your upcoming races and laughed when it said "Winter Racing Circuit" for April 25th!! Do you guys really still have snow?! eek!

Well it snowed yesterday, but didn't really stick on the ground down here in the valley. But the ski resorts got a bunch. There is even snow down on the benches after yesterday.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts... I think I will really need them.

good luck with the massage and feeling better - long runs always give me a little anxiety before I run them!! You are one tough woman, keep up the hard work!!

Take care of that shin. A long run sounds so YUCKY to me right now, glad I do not have to wrap my head around it.

When I feel reluctant about a long run, I use my "driving to Portland" imagery. I blogged about it a long time ago so I cannot reference it. But in case it helps, it consists of visualizing, accepting, and having a peace about the long duration. In the early and middle miles, I resist the temptation to mentally whine about how far I have to go by telling myself, "You wouldn't expect to arrive in Portland right away if you're driving. This is going to take a while so you might as well settle in and enjoy the ride." Something like that. Providing all your body parts are cooperating, you can have an awesome long run. Get lots of sleep, and don't eat crap - good luck!

I do about twenty miles a week. I think it's amazing you folks can knock it out in a few hours.

I'm glad your shin is feeling better. I hope the massage is wonderful. Good luck with the long run. Do it for me because the white stuff is sticking here.
