Well tonight was a crazy run. I will not be running on the parkway again for a while. It was either a sheet of black ice, or thick ice that has deep tire type ruts through it. I was sliding and rolling my ankles almost the entire time I tried to run on the parkway. I then ran around the city trying to find blocks that had clear sidewalks. The city block that has all the Christmas lights was by far the best. I circled it a few times. I think the people there thought I was nuts. I need to rethink where and how my running is going to be if these are the road conditions where I'm normally running.

laps: 9:44, 10:27, 10:35, 10:24, 9:17, 8:52, 9:08, (.14) 8:55

You can see by the laps where I found dry pavement :)

I would have enjoyed watching you run laps around the Christmas light block. I think you should do it again.

What we need is run-friendly Santa suits. You could have pretended you were part of the displays! lol I circled back and forth on a street yesterday too. Tis the season...

Why do I have cartoonish images of you slipping and trying to catch your balance in my head?

From Metcalf Running on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 12:52:12 from 207.225.192.66

Burt, you would have been laughing at me if you had been there! It was crazy... I just didn't want to fall, at my age I could break a hip LOL!

Sno... that would be funny, I'm already getting funny looks from people.

Were you able to look at the lights while you ran or did you have to concentrate on the sidewalk and ice? I think I would enjoy running and looking at lights as long as I didn't have to worry about slipping and falling.

Michelle, the sidewalk around that block is kept nice a clear, so I didn't have to worry too much about slipping. I could look at the lights most of the time, but did have to be careful not to run into the other people.
