Crap I just lost my entire entry :( so I will try this again. I ran 2 on the eliptical and 3 on the treadmil. Shin started bugging, I think I did too much on the road this weekend. I need to take it easy, because I entered the Winter Racing Circuit and the first race is in a couple of weeks. My goal this year was to place in the top three in my age group, I hope I can do this.

You will do GREAT! YOu are smart to stick to the treadmill! It is good for us, so I have been told! ;)

Do your shins feel better on the treadmill than on the road? If so, I wonder if it's a matter of the treadmill being a softer surface, or whether you doing something different in terms of technique.

Good luck with your upcoming race.

Shins hurt on the road or treadmill, I guess I run on the treadmill thinking that it is a softer surface so I'm not hurting them as bad... don't know if it reall matters or not. I wonder also if I get my thyroid finally doing good if my shins will finally heal?

I wish I knew something about shin pain that could help you, but I'm afraid I don't.

Could it be your shoes? I walk with a coworker and her shins were bothering her until she got new shoes, I think.

I don't heal at all when my thyroid is out of whack :(

From Metcalf Running on Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 21:31:19

Well I've been on new meds for about three weeks. I think I need to take more. I'm on armour now instead of the synthroid. (natural vs. synthetic) So I'm hoping that when I get all my levels correct it will help with the acky stuff and shins.

Carolyn I got new shoes a bit after they started hurting. I have about 200 miles on the new ones, I don't know... I might try a different style.
