Could not get myself out of bed this morning AGHHHH I swear I really need to because it was 97 degrees when I left work, without even a stitch of a breeze. I ended up running on the treadmill, I know this is bad... but I can zone out for an hour and then it's done!

Had a bad weekend after the race. We had to put down our old dog. We had her for about 14 years. I don't think my youngest daughter can remember life without her. She was my first trail running buddy and so far the best dog we have owned to run with. I was really hoping she would make it through the summer, but it became very clear ealier this week that she was not doing well. So after my race, my husband convinced me it was not good to keep her going on this way. I guess she always loved winter better... she hated the hot weather, she was big and black. So sad, my two youngest 19 and 16 were so sad, and still are.

Oh Lori, I'm so sorry to hear that! It is so very hard to part with our pets and they almost always go before we do. My thoughts are with you.

My condolences Lori.

*Hugs. Sorry Lori. I lost both of my dogs this past year. First was our St. Bernard we put down last August suddenly. She was only 9, and then we lost our Great Pyrenees who was 7 earlier this spring. While I was really sad about losing both, I thought about all the great times we had and how much they impacted my life. Dogs truly are some of the greatest buds we can have in life. I'm keeping you all in my prayers. I know exactly how tough it is for you :(.

As for the heat, good job still getting a dreadmill run in. I too think it's easy to zone out on the treadmill and an hour or two will pass like nothing. Some beg to differ, but I love the treadmill for consistency training. I used it a lot to get my pacing down for 15ks and half marathons.

Ah Lori. I feel your pain.

Burt... I remeber reading about your puppy... so sad. I think everyone can relate to loosing pets. They become a big part of your family even in a short amount of time. We have had other pet die in our house hold, but I have never had to take one to the vet to be put down. It was a new experiance that was very hard.

Sorry about your dog. Seems I put one down every couple of years now. We always try to have two dogs at a time, one new and one old. It takes us a couple of months before we're ready for a new one when one goes. Very sad. I take comfort in the fact that the dogs have great lives with us in our homes. I hope we get to see them again...
