Today did not feel good!!! I really really really did not want to get up and run. I even stood on the porch for a brief second or two thinking I would just turn around and go back to bed… “But you are already dressed… just start!!” “Just go back and maybe you will be able to fall asleep for a bit.” I finally just started… It was a forced short, slow run. I should say easy but effort wise it seemed very hard. I usually pack my gym bag so that I can get a few more miles in at the gym, but I told myself “NO” take it a bit easier today and just do the one run.

On the positive side, I saw two shooting stars… it was a beautiful morning even though I was grumpy. I was just passing another runner when I saw the second shooting star. She was going the opposite direction from me. I yelled out to her that there was a shooting star, and inadvertently flashed her in the face with my headlamp. I don’t think she was too happy with me.

I’m getting used to the new headlamp. Because of the strap across the top of my head I have had to find new ways to wear my hair. Today I looked like Princess Leah on crack LOL!! But it made it much easier today to run. The strap stayed in place much better. Not that I care too much about the way I look when I run but it’s probably a good thing I have been running in the dark.

It occurred to me recently that runners going the other direction probably didn't appreciate my headlamp shining in their eyes, so now I'm trying to train myself to turn it off when I'm approaching another runner and then turn it back on after we pass.

You made me laugh so hard--one at the headlamp and the "Look a shooting star!" comment...but I could really relate to your internal argument about not wanting to run. The mind is such a facinating thing!

You are so funny Lori.

Carolyn,

This new headlight is not just an on and off thing. When it's on and I click it.. it goes into a strobe type mode that could possible induce seizures, then I would have to click it again to turn it off. So I think I will just try to not flash people. I'm not very good at doing too many things at once (running... clicking lights)and then being in the dark. I better not push my luck.

Hmmm. That's interesting about your head lamp. My has a strobe mode and if I push the button again immediately after turning it on, it will go to strobe. But if it's been on for a while and I push the button, it turns off. We must have different kinds of head lamps.

I encountered lots of runners going the other direction this morning, so I thought of you and got lots of practice turning my light on and off.

Yeah Lori. Whatever you do, don't flash people.

And Carolyn, if I saw someone turn their light out as they approached me I would think they are going to jump me!

Burt, I hope I don't look that threatening.

From Burt on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 13:18:15 from 68.76.197.194

You don't. Unless you start flashing people like Lori.

Way to conquer the 'evil Lori' inside! I hate that evil person in us that tells us to go back to bed. However, sometimes a rest day or two does the trick to put them away for a week or more!!
