The plan today was to run my warm up to the 21st street pond. Then do three miles at 8mm pace with a .25 rest between. Then run back to my car. I took the auto lap off the garmin so that I could make the laps myself.

My execution of the plan: I ran 1.75 to the pond...at 8:56 pace. I seem to have a problem with my warm ups... I think they are always a bit too fast. I ran until my garmin read an even mile marker so that I would not have to do too much math LOL.

1 miles at 7.51 pace. So for my first mile I was probably a bit too fast... this was difficult by the end I was ready to slow down.

.25 at 9:59 pace. I had to walk a bit to catch my breath.

Next 1 mile fast at 7:49 pace... again this was very difficult by the end lungs and legs were burning!

.25 at 10:04pace, had to walk a bit... as I was getting closer to my last fast bit I was really dreading it, but kept telling myself just one more.

Last 1 mile at 8:13... at about .25 to the end of the last fast mile I really started to hurt! My left hip joint and pubic bone felt like they were on fire! I should have stopped but I wanted to make the entire mile.

.33 at 11:01... this was suposed to be .25 but I was hurting so much I forgot to hit the lap button.

Last 1.90 miles was a slow limp back to the car. I was seriously hurting and still am! I'm so upset that I'm this out of shape! I finally try to do a serious work out and not just my usual run, and I end up hurt, and to top it off I signed up for a race Saturday!!! CRAP!!!

I will see how I feel tomorrow it I run or not. How do you know if you have just a pulled muscle or something more serious. When my running friend had pelvic stress fractures she said she could not stand the one leg that hurt. So I stood on my left foot and I can do it with out too much pain... she said she could not even lift her foot off the ground. So I'm thinking its just a pulled muscle. But it hurts now to just sit or walk. :( I'm just so completely sad and angry with myself.

You're a super star! Great run! Don't be angry with yourself. Injuries are body's way of saying hey! I need a bit more time! Try to keep things going, slow and steady. I've been trying to build mileage since June and am only now starting to get into the mid to high 30s every week. Keep the faith, Lori! You are awesome :D

Oh Lori, I'm so sorry you're hurting. I guess your body is telling you to slow down. You were speedy on that warm up and the first two mile repeats. Take it easy today and I hope that you get feeling better really quickly.

Ouch! So sorry you are feeling hurt. Funny how our reactions to injury are angry ones. I did the same thing on Thursday. The burning pain does not sound good; maybe you should get it checked out?

So I sat in a very warm tub last night and did lots of streaching, also took some meds. I'm feeling better this morning so I think it is definately muscle and not something more serious. I will probably try to do a bit tonight after work. Some very slow running or maybe some on the eliptical or bike. I'll see how that feels.

You ran a killer 3 mile repeats. I'd say the muscles were put to the test especially with a fast warm up. Hope you feel better by Sat. race. Are you running a 5K, 10K, half? GOOD LUCK!

Smooth, I running the Striders 7. It's part trail run. It's in conjuction with Ogden's Havest Moon Festival. I have run it a few years ago, it's pretty fun. Starts and 3:00 in the afternoon so it's going to be a cooker :)
