Nice run tonight, I thought I was a bit faster but I'll take it.

** My husband and I know this couple, she works at my work and he works with my husband. My first impression of him was that he was very vain and self centered. My husband said he seemed like a pretty nice guy. Any way I found out yesterday (Monday) that he had been having a 7 month affair. When his wife found out and confronted him about it he did the whole "If you had been more" ____ fill in the blank, you know what I mean all the blaming excuses. When she wouldn't accept this and put a stop to it, he turned to his 14 year old daughter and said " If you had been a better kid I would not have gone out looking for another person" I was so angry I wanted to kick him hard in his man business! Having an affair is one thing, as painful and wrong as it is, it happens more then I even care to think about. But to blame a child that I'm sure is already feeling horrible, is inexcusable! It just confirmed to me that my first impression had been correct. He is a selfish person that should have never gotten married or had chilren. He is what Sno had called a checklist person, having this imaginary checklist that somehow they thing they needed to accomplish, but in reality had not right to do. He dosen't even see the pain that he has caused. I'm sorry for venting here on the blog... I"m usually not one to post much personal business, but I have just been so angry.

I think you are Speedy Gonzalez! How are the shins doing?

Alright, you are going to have to post your racing schedule in your profile so I don't have to keep asking you what you are racing. I am losing my marbles! Now we are going to party at Ogden right???

From Metcalf Running on Tue, Mar 17, 2009 at 10:08:11 from 63.240.133.93

Yep... the plan is to run the full at Ogden, I will see how I feel when it gets closer and if I'm able to get my miles in... If I'm having trouble I will probably hop on the half bus.

That is so horrible Lori! How terrible for your friend and her family. Your "creep-o-meter" appears to be working perfectly. Guys don't have a very good "creep-o-meter" when it comes to other men. Mine has never been wrong and my girls "creep-o-meters" seem to be pretty keen too. I am so sorry. What a gutless guy to blame his child. Moron!

Nice run.

That guy really is a jerk. It's too bad he has to mess up so many lives in pursuit of his own selfish vanity.

So will I see you at Moab on Friday or Saturday. I haven't heard from you and I don't know what you look like, so I don't know how to find you. On Saturday I'll be wearing a white baseball-style cap that says Visa on it and I'll be wearing glasses. (I'll be wearing glasses on Friday too, but that's not much help.) My bib number is 1646.

I second your righteous indignation! What a despicable worm! I don't know whether you've ever read the book, "Blink," but what you knew about him immediately is called "thin slicing" (or something like that). It's about how we intuitively sense truths right away and often disregard our own wisdom but later find that we knew all along. A great book. Well, at least his poor wife and children have friends like you to keep reminding them of their own innocence in this situation.

Glad you had a good run.

I spoke too soon, Lori. I did get your private message and responded. However, what I said about what I will be wearing still applies.

Caroline, I will get you some more information as soon as I get it from teh girls that I'm going with. It will be great to meet you in person.

Thanks... ladies for your support of me adn my co-worker. I think misstakes happen affairs as bad as they are seem to be around all the time. Even good people at times get caught up in situations that are not good and it's not until they have risked everything that they realize what they have done. The thing with this situation that angers me more is that he doen't man-up and say "I'm sorry... what can I do to possibly make up for this" he is in a state of blame. That is what I don't understand and am so angry about. He only sees his pain now of being caught, not the pain he has caused his wife, his family and the woman he was involved with.

I should probably mind MOB, but if more men (and women) ran 10+ miles a day, these kinds of things wouldn't happen so much. First, you don't have time. Second, you're too tired and third, don't you find that miles on the road clear your mind and help you avoid making stupid mistakes? I hope running has helped me become more deliberate and compassionate. I want my character to improve with my mileage. -

From Metcalf Running on Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 10:02:04 from 207.225.192.66

edrickt, I agree completely running has always been my place to clear my head... think things through and also helps with creative thinking. But I don't know it you can cure people of selfishness. This is really what I think it boils down to. He is vain and selfish. Only thinking of himself and his desires, not his family/wife, or even the other womans life. How do you teach people to be selfless?
