Shoes/sandals for when you are not running

Compression Sleeve (for my calves)

Ponytail holders (again with my hair control)

Chap Stick

Eye drops (I have very dry eyes)

Headlight (your team should provide headlamps and safety vests)

Water bottle

Spray bottle (Feels good when you are hot and running to have people spray you a bit)

Stuff to decorate your car/truck

Silly string to spray at other runners…cow bells to ring…other wacky stuff you can think of. And maybe your cell phone.

Hmmm can't think of anything else right now but if I do I will update the list.

** added items to my list: Ibuprophine or favorite pain meds, and ear plugs, maybe they will help with the sleep?

Not my best run tonight... everything is feeling stiff and heavy. I really hope this is not how things will be this weekend. Did my regular loop at the parkway, seen a few of the regular people. Weather was comfortable but maybe a bit too warm. I'm planning on about 5 miles tomorrow and hoping for some good sleep the rest of the week :)

AWESOME list! Thanks Lori, I will need this tonight...I've got to pack today, I'm at Lagoon ALL day tomorrow.

Good list. I always tell my team to bring two towels. One to sit on after they're done running to keep the seat dry. Don't forget your womanly stuff. Maybe a small bottle of hand sanitizer that can be used by the whole van.

From marion on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 18:27:51 from 71.213.119.198

GREAT list :) I will be asking you for that someday :) You are going to have SO much fun :)

From Smooth on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 18:30:31 from 71.36.79.7

THANKS for the list. That helps a ton. Hey, do you know where I can get paint to decorate the van windows?

From Burt on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 20:09:05 from 68.76.197.194

The WalMarts in AZ only have blue and white window markers. You might try Party City.

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 20:15:32 from 67.171.56.164

I think you are going to have a blast! Can't wait to hear all about it.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 21:43:33 from 71.229.164.25

That's quite the list. But I suppose it's quite the race. I'm with Snoqualmie. I can't wait to hear about it.

Thanks for the suggestions Burt! Good things to have. Thanks everyone, please keep me in your thoughts for this race, I'm really hoping I can survive. :)

I'll share a little story. My friend, who is running on an Ultra team this weekend was with mostly the same team last year, but with more people because they were running the normal race. Well into the race one of the runners (one of only two men on the team)started to chafe in a not so pleasant area. He quickly realized that he didn't have any rub for it so he had to use the chapstick provided to him in his race packet (or something like that). because of that their team has now referred to all Chapstick as 'chafestick' and my friend even made 'Chafestick' labels with this guys picture on it for this years race (he is a driver as the whole team is women). I thought it was funny.

Jun,

That is crazy funny :) I don't know if I will be able to use my chapstick with out laughing.

From Burt on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 12:00:43 from 68.76.197.194

...or wondering where it's been...

one more thing I would add to the list is a garbage bag or something to separate your stinky clothes from your clean clothes.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 12:13:48 from 198.241.217.15

You ran pretty fast for stiff and heavy. Good luck this weekend, especially with the sleep part.

From Metcalf Running on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 12:43:57 from 207.225.192.66

Burt, Now that's all I will be thinking about... I better keep mine with me at all times so I know where it's been :) Thanks for the good reminders for things I will need!

Carolyn,

It was a difficulty run, I have been struggling with some health things, that I hope will get resolved shortly. I have been having trouble sleeping even in my own bed, so I'm sure it will not be good for me...just hope I can make it though.

From auntieem on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 13:05:36 from 67.182.145.8

That didn't sound like a tired run to me! Great run, in fact. This WBR race sounds like a total funfest! I'm hoping to hear all about it. Have fun!

From Burt on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 13:19:20 from 68.76.197.194

Remember in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy is locked in the witch's tower and Auntie Em comes to view in the crystal ball? "Dorothy, Dorothy, where are you? We're trying to find you." "Oh, Auntie Em. Help me. I'm frightened. Don't go away. Auntie Em! Auntie Em!" Then the Wicked Witch of the West mocks her in her high pitched raspy voice, "Auntie Em! Auntie Em!" Anytime I see a comment from auntiem, that's what goes through my mind. Followed by the Munchkins singing, "Kansas she says is the name of the star..."

From Metcalf Running on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 14:46:20 from 207.225.192.66

From Burt on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 15:15:43 from 68.76.197.194

From now on you'll be history

You'll be his

You'll be his

You'll be history

And we will glorify your name...

You will be a bust

Be a bust

Be a bust

In the hall of fame
