I go to the doctor tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed!

Wed, 07 Jan 2009 05:00:00 +0100 Tue, Jan 06, 2009 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-06-2009.html An hour on the eliptical = a bit over 6 miles. Still rather boring :( I ran just a tiny bit on the track at the gym, shin hurt just a bit, felt a bit better then last week so maybe this is helping. Tue, 06 Jan 2009 05:00:00 +0100 Mon, Jan 05, 2009 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-05-2009.html
Today was 5 miles on the eliptical... 50 minutes, boring but hopefully this is helping my shin :)

FYI - I was keeping track of my miles on an excel spreadsheet that I had made up before and after I joined the FRB, so in 07 I had a total of 1,322.97 miles. In 08 I had a total of 1,852.45, that is a difference of 529.48 miles :) I have to say I think it's pretty cool. I'm a bit sad that I didn't make it to 2,000 miles that would have been even better, maybe I should set that as my 09 goal - 2009 miles in 09 :)

Mon, 05 Jan 2009 05:00:00 +0100 Sun, Jan 04, 2009 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-04-2009.html
So I talked my sweet hubby into snow shoeing with me this morning, but when we got to the trail it was already so packed that we just ended up hiking for about five miles. I was still very stiff from the weight lifting :( but we had a pretty fun time. The temp thing in my car said it was 6 degrees. We felt OK until the wind kicked up at the end.

My plan for the upcoming week it to work out on the eliptical instead of running :( Hoping that my shin will stop bugging. I go back to the Dr. in a week so if it's not better by then I guess we'll see what he thinks is happening.

Sun, 04 Jan 2009 05:00:00 +0100 Sat, Jan 03, 2009 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-03-2009.html So because the shin was buggin all day after my run I thought I better not push my luck so I went to the gym and did body pump class (hour long weight lifting class) I have not done it in a looonng time, so it kicked my tush. Then I did 30 minutes on the eliptical. I'm getting bummed about my running... hope I can recover to do the winter training series. Sat, 03 Jan 2009 05:00:00 +0100 Fri, Jan 02, 2009 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-02-2009.html
Got a late start at my run this morning. I have not been feeling to well. But i finally put on my shoes, with the hope that it would not be a bad run... No such luck :( I had sharp pains in my calf for the first 50 or so steps, then it mellowed to a dull ache. By about the mile mark it was dull enough not to bother me too much. Then around mile 3 my legs felt heavy and tight, all in all not the best first run for 09. Hopefully it will get better from there.

5.51 miles - 50:31

Fri, 02 Jan 2009 05:00:00 +0100 Wed, Dec 31, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-31-2008.html
Plodded along about the same as the past two days. I decided to run on the treadmil to see if my shin would not hurt as much as on the road. It still bugged for the first two miles.
I had an appointment with the doctor today, he ajusted my insoles and gave me a perscription, wrapped my calf and I go see him in a couple of weeks to see if this will help.

5 miles - 45:53

Mon, 29 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Sat, Dec 27, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-27-2008.html
Slow and slippery was the theme for today's run...Had to call it short also because of some tummy trouble :( Maybe I will try to get some miles in tomorrow. Mom, baby and Dad are all doing well. This is my forth grandchild, second grandson, and my oldest son's first child :) My daughters camera is recharging and I will try to post a picture of him later. What a beautiful early Christmas present! I start some new thyroid medication in the morning and some other supplements so hopefully things will turn around.

Just was wondering if any of you have opinions on homeopathic medicine?

5 miles - 45:56

Thu, 18 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Wed, Dec 17, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-17-2008.html
I went to the gym today, I didn't take any meds. and I wanted to see just how much it was bugging. I made it two miles on the tread mil before I could not take it any more. So I did three more miles on the eliptical.

I think I will try to do a bit more cross training until I go to the doctor in a couple of weeks. I also went to a natural heath place today and had some scans and stuff done... I guess will see if some of this will help me feel better.

Did n't time my run today.

Wed, 17 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Tue, Dec 16, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-16-2008.html
Tonight was a little better, still a bit of tummy trouble, but not bad. I took some meds. so my knee/shin didn't bug me too much. I thought I was running a bit faster but my time show that I was a bit slower today.

7 miles - 1:04

Tue, 16 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Mon, Dec 15, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-15-2008.html
Well today was not a very good run, my shin was bugging and then I had to potty stop about every mile for a potty stop. AGHHHH! Things did not feel good today, but I slugged out 6 miles :)

I guess there is one good thing, my team (a couple girls from work) drew out for the Moab Half YAHOOOO should be a good time. I fell totally lucky, this is the second year we put in and both times we got in.

6 miles - 52:00

Mon, 15 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Sat, Dec 13, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-13-2008.html
Today I was able to hook up a run with some new people. I found out much to my dismay that they were very fast. The one guy that invited me was nice enough to run with my, but I was still pushing myself to at least look like I could handle it. By the time I don't think it was that much faster then I normally run, but for some reason I had a hard time. It was a slight down hill, then we turned around to have the slight up hill on the way back AGHHH!!! I felt like a cow :(

5.6 miles - 50 min.

Sat, 13 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Fri, Dec 12, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-12-2008.html
Well tonight was pretty much a repeat of last night. Potty issues and all. I will be running with a new group of runners tomorrow so please keep your fingers crossed that my tummy issues won't bug me in the morning. I don't think I was to leave a bad impression with them :)

5.5 miles - 50:45

Fri, 12 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Thu, Dec 11, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-11-2008.html
Well my daughter had a concert tonight so I knew that I had to hurry to get my run in, and of course my tummy decided that I could not hurry :(` I swear every mile I had to stop to potty, it was not a pretty run. But at least I got some miles in! Her concert was fun and Christmasy, so I enjoyed it!

5.5 miles 52:01

Thu, 11 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Wed, Dec 10, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-10-2008.html
Well tonight I deliberately slowed down, I have been having motivational trouble by the end of the week so I was thinking if I slowed it down, and took it a bit easier I might have more gumption for the weekend. But I have to say that it was not fun, I wanted to run faster and at times had a hard time holding back, I also didn't take any anti-inflammatory meds. tonight and my knee was a bit achy, not bad... just annoying.

7 miles - 1:06:27

Wed, 10 Dec 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Tue, Dec 09, 2008 http://Metcalf.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-09-2008.html
Tonight felt a bit better then last night, I don't think my time is any better though. I think I'm having some sort of mental block when it's coming to my weekend run. Or on the other hand I might just be mental :)

Had a pretty good run tonight, a bit of tummy trouble at the end.
