My friend came to my house and we ran the Pleasant View Founders Day 5K. I was not expecting a big turn out but was surprised to see about 300 runners. I will have to update the report when the official results are posted. I don't know my overall place. But I was very happy to see that I was first!!! in my age group. Man I can't remember the last time that happened, it might even be the first time that as happened!! I think there were 8 ladies in my age group... the really great thing is I smoked the second place lady by I think 2 minutes... like I said when the official results are posted I will let you know for sure. Then Sue and I ran around pleasant View for another 4.5 miles. Just took it nice and easy... then had the breakfast in the park... Nice start to my weekend!

Have a great weekend bloggers!!!

** Updates I was the 54th runner out of 271. I had estimated about 300 so I was pretty close. When I looked at the offical results I beat the second place lady by 4:33... maybe they were just not trying ?

All that consistent running pays off. I've been in small races where a 25:18 would have gotten you a 1st place female finish. Great job!

You really are speedy.

You were actually 16th overall out of 162 women. Even world-class women do not compete against men for awards :-) At least not without a head start, like in the LA marathon gender challenge. And no, I do not think the second place in your age division was not trying. I looked up her results, found only one other race - a 30:22 5 K in 2007. In order to beat you, somebody has to have more Quality X or train better. Your Quality X is above average for a woman your age, I would even say for a woman of any age, and your training would probably be in the top 5% of all the runners in a race like this one, and I might be too generous with 5%, it is probably less. So with a 25:15 you are not that easy to beat.

Now do you believe me Lori?

From Smooth on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 16:47:13 from 71.36.76.12

Just found out you raced and read this report. Sorry for the belated CONGRATS on winning your AG!
