I guess I'm the slowest blogger at this race, how humiliating... maybe I should not be posting :(

I had a great time at this race... met up with Carolyn, it was fun talking to her face-to-face and puting a person to the blog. She did an amazing race and I'm so happy for her. I had a good race, I pushed myself after the the hill at about the 91/2 mile mark, I was able to pass lots of the people at the end especially on the road after you some out of the canyon, so I'm pleased that I could push it though at the end. I think I don't really trust myself or my training that I can make it though sometimes, so I end up holding back quite a bit until I'm sure I will be OK. If it's any consolation I will loose a toenail... Maybe that makes me a bit more of a runner.

GREAT JOB!!! That was a super tough race with the hills and the heat! Being able to push at the end of this one is a HUGE accomplishment! Sorry about the toenail, I went into the race missing 1 but now my left foot is covered in blisters everywhere. Dang it.

Thank, Kelli... you are so sweet... and by the way a huge congrats on your time, you were smokin' it girl... I'm so impressed!!

From Kelli on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 18:40:38 from 71.219.76.202

Thank you. But, I still have to say, and mean this 100%---you passed people at the end!!! I was not around anyone who did not look like they were ready to throw in the towel for the last 3 miles. And I watched racers come in until 2:30 into the race, and they all looked so haggered! YOU PASSED POEPLE!!! And you did it during the hardest part of the race. That is IMPRESSIVE!

You've got nothing to be ashamed of. You did a fantastic job. That was a really tough race. You increased your pace the last two miles and ran strong at the end. I was ready to die at the end.

It was great to meet you. Maybe I'll see you at Ogden.

Lori- do I have to come up there and give you a cyber beating??? YOUR RACE WAS AWESOME!!!! You know I am the token slow chick on the blog, the "affirmative action" blogger. I can only DREAM to beat your time this year on a half! I should have come down and run it just so you could KNOW that YOUR RACE ROCKS!!!! (My friend KimR on the blog did not beat your time and she is THE BEST EVER!!! :D)

You deserve a massage and a delicious dinner out some where! WAY TO GO, LORI!!!! You are my hero :D

I second you Marion, you put it so beautifully!

Ladies, you are the best!! I can't feel sorry for myself with you around! Your the best! I do love this race... it's so beautiful. But having the friends here are the blog tops everything :)

Marion, we pigged out on Mexican after the race and it was great!

From Kelli on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 22:13:30 from 71.219.76.202

Hmmm.....I started pigging out the day before the race and I have not stopped yet. I am out of control!

It looks like you did really well to me! At the moment I'm too tired for math, but it looks like you ran a negative split. I've only ever done that once, and it wasn't today! Awesome!

I can totally relate to your feeling doubtful about being able to keep a pace. It's one of the mental games on my list for improvement.

(I had Mexican food tonight too. Such a great post race satisfaction.)

Good job on the race, good to see another N. Utahn on the blog... I live just up and over the Mtn. in Eden. Are you running the 1/2 up there in a couple weeks?

From JD on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 13:34:39 from 64.65.159.206

You're obviously in great shape to run over 13 miles and have the endurance and strength to finish strong. You're training is working well for you. Keep up the good work!

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 14:15:24 from 64.81.245.109

Your last 5 K shows you probably were ready for 2:03-2:04.

In your training, try this. Pick a well-marked loop course. Go out at 8:40 per mile. Keep the pace until failure or until you've run 5 miles. Jog for the rest of the mileage once the failure occurs. Do not completely kill yourself to stay on pace. Once it becomes unbearable, maybe keep it for another half-mile before stopping. Do this maybe once a week on a day when you've gotten plenty of sleep and not a whole lot of stress before or after the run.

Once you are able to make it to 5 miles on pace, learn to do it at 8:30 pace. Work it all the way up to 8:00.

On another note, is your thyroid OK, or have you had any kind of health problem recently?
